Dry Cleanable High Holiday Torah Covers
In response to requests from customers for high holiday torah covers that can be dry cleaned, I have developed a new system of construction that now makes this possible.
These covers use the same beautiful and durable upholstery fabrics I have used in the past, but I have constructed them using a detachable Velcro system. The body of the cover can be separated from the oval wooden top. (This is the part of the torah cover that dry cleaners cannot accept.)
The body of the cover can be removed, cleaned and replaced with ease. There is a mark on the inside of the fabric that allows you to perfectly line up and center the design. Until you separate the two parts, no one will know that it is a detachable system.
Although they are dry cleanable, I recommend that they not be cleaned every year, unless they have a stain. Because of the limited use of these covers each year, it is probably unnecessary to clean them yearly.
The torah covers should be stored in an acid-free storage box between uses. This is the best way to ensure that the covers stay fresh and white. This type of box inhibits the yellowing of fabrics.
Here’s a link to one source for the box. I suggest the large or extra large box: https://www.anniescatalog.com/detail.html?prod_id=93043
